Cyber crime is a bigger cause of worry for Indian companies than terrorismAs suggested by a recent global study '2010 State of Enterprise Security Study' a conducted by Symantec Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Indian companies consider cyber security as a major concern, when it comes to threats be it natural or man-made. .

Indian companies from five major sectors viz. telecom, hospitality, manufacturing, retail and technology took part in this study.

And the findings of the study show that over 42% of the companies consider threats from a cyber crime to be bigger than terrorism, crime and natural disasters.

Over the past few years, cyber crimes have really shot up in India and so have the losses incurred due these attacks.

By the companies. Sample this: In the last one year period a total of 66% companies faced cyber intrusions. Out of these, 51% complained of repeated attacks and 34% companies faced very high number of malicious hits. As per estimations, the average revenue loss by companies due to the cyber attacks in the year 2009 was Rs. 58. 9 lakh. This is not a small amount and thus the companies fret over cyber crimes is expected.

Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director, Symantec Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd., strongly feels, "Apart from financial loss, because of the frequent cyber crimes companies will have to put up with damaged brand reputation and loss of customer trust."
