Emir sends greetings to President of Chile

The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has sent a cable of greetings to the President of the Republic of Chile on the occasion of his country’s National Day. The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has also sent greetings to the Chilean President congratulating him on the occasion.

The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani has sent similar cable of greetings to the President of the Republic of Chile.

Sheikh Joan conveys Emir’s condolences

Doha: On behalf of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, H E Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani has offered condolences to the family of the late Dr Khaled Gamal Abdel Nasser. Sheikh Juan also conveyed the condolences of the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the deceased’s family.

Qatar Cement raises wages of national staff

Doha: Qatar National Cement Company decided to raise the wages of Qatari staff by 60 percent effective from September 2011. Qatar Cement Board of Directors chaired by Salim Al Nuaimy, also decided a hike of 60 percent in social allowance, said General Manager Mohammed Ali Al Suleiti. The pensions of Qatari retired staff, who are not subjected to the Retirement and Pension Law No 24 of 2002, were also raised by 60 percent of the total pension. “The decision is aim to provide the requirements of decent life for nationals and to encourage them to enroll in the company service, said Al Sulaiti.

Public agencies won 177 lawsuites in 2010
 
DOHA: Public bodies won 177 lawsuits in 2010 and this year they lost only eight cases so far. A total of 1,147 lawsuits were filed by the Department of State Affairs of the Ministry of Justice until April 1, 2011, Al Sharq said quoting a report published by the Ministry of Justice. In 2009, there were 689 lawsuits filed whereas there were 200 other cases that they were pending from the previous years.

The courts issued verdicts in 154 civil lawsuits in 2009 in favour of public agencies, while verdicts in some 43 cases were against public agencies. Some 36 administrative sentences were issued in favor of public agencies in 2009 and 11 administrative sentences went against public bodies. In that year (2009) some 20 lawsuits were cancelled and three were reconciled. Some 150 lawsuits were filed by the state and 539 lawsuits were filed against the state in 2009.

Radiology services suspended for one month

DOHA: Operations of Radiology Services at Airport PHC Paediatric Emergency Unit will be suspended as from today for a period of one month, as part of Hamad Medical Corporation’s comprehensive drive to improve healthcare services provided to patients. Some pediatric cases that need radiology scan will be referred to other health centres near Airport PHC or to Al Sadd Paediatric Emergency Centre.
