Breakdown: Nightmare for internet marketing service agencies

THE FIRST undersea cable was reported to have broken in the Mediterranean Sea on January 30, followed by two more in the month of February. Internet access was affected badly in the Middle East, India, the USA, Europe and South Asia too. The anchors of ships that dropped and cut the wire underlying presumably damaged the wires.

As soon as the new travelled to different parts of the globe, IT leaders, along with their vendors, quickly responded and took necessary actions to restore the traffic. No major company was deeply affected by the mishap, which is a good sign for everyone. The Indian internet traffic did not face too much of a damage, but what it actually helped in doing was putting several SMEs to a high alert position. The IT infrastructure was put to question everywhere.

The global businesses were not affected in majority, but that was not the case for many smaller internet marketing service companies that did experience the hitch in its activities. This gave them an opportunity to revise their IT backups and check for any loopholes.

Discussing on the same issue, the IT department of Rupiz Media – an online media buying agency based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh (UP), India - provided a few tips that their company had followed during the crisis period to restore normally.

They suggested switching over to a multi-peer networking connection from a single network, which has a separate backbone connection. They also advised on using full capacity of bandwidth and contact the Internet service provider (ISP) provider to give you your spare usage. Prioritising and restricting internet activities are also essential parts of saving bandwidth for other purposes.

“Internet marketing services are primarily based on voice and data transfer, hence using separate lines for voice and data requirement will bring in smoothness in the flow of essential data,” commented the IT department of Rupiz Media.
