A new study put out by the Pew Internet & American Life Project has revealed that search engines are now almost more popular than e-mail.

They found that about 50% of Internet users use search engines on a daily basis, a huge increase from the 30% of Internet users who used them each day in 2002.

Currently, 60% of Internet users check their e-mail every day, showing that search engines are gaining on e-mail very quickly in terms of popularity.

Breaking it down by gender, 53% of men were found to use search engines every day, compared to 45% of women. It is expected that its current pace, search engine popularity will soon surpass e-mail.
