Offering its users a new way to enjoy and experience the content, Yahoo has announced Yahoo Entertainment for the Apple iPad. The content provided with this application includes entertainment content, television listings, videos, news and more.

With this application, user can plan their viewing with an interactive program guide that highlights their favorite TV shows. The application also helps them to stay on top of current news articles and photos, as they are delivered 24/7 to the users’ iPad.

To create one of the most interactive and personal experiences possible, Yahoo is leveraging the powerful features of the iPad, the company announced. A Multi-Touch user interface makes it easy to help people discover new content on Yahoo Entertainment. To identify consumers’ locations to deliver relevant, local television listings and content, this application takes advantage of iPad’s geo-location functionality, the company stated.

“Devices like the iPad allow Yahoo to create new experiences and expand the art of what’s possible in the eyes of consumers. Just like we did with Connected TV and mobile, we successfully re-imagined the consumer experiences for an entirely new platform,” said Tapan Bhat, senior vice president of Yahoo’s Integrated Consumer Experiences. “Yahoo Entertainment for iPad is simply amazing.”

This application surfaces and recommends TV shows, entertainment articles, and a wide variety of videos from across the Web through real-time content from local providers. Yahoo Entertainment for iPad provides features such as TV program guide and listings, news, comics, and book reviews and original video content. Yahoo has stated that Yahoo Entertainment App is the first of many engaging experiences being developed by Yahoo for iPad..

Recently, TMCnet’s Alice Straight reported that e-mail accounts of journalists and activists working in China or Taiwan have reportedly been compromised in cyber attacks starting late last week. Starting March 25, some journalists have reported that they were unable to access their Yahoo accounts. Others learned that their accounts had been set, without their knowledge, to forward to another account.
